Google “Squid Game” Now to Play an Iconic Game From the Series

There are certain television shows that cut through, ensuring most people will at least be aware of them. Netflix has a good track record of producing these, with both Stranger Things and Squid Game being two names that spring to mind. And now, you can even play one of the iconic games from Squid Game within your Google Search results.

Play the Red Light, Green Light Game on Google

Squid Game is a South Korean survival horror that exceeded all expectations when it aired on Netflix in 2021. It became Netflix’s most-watched show, racking up 1.65 billion hours of viewing time within its first month. Now, the second season is about to drop, premiering on Netflix on December 26th.

Because Netflix knows it has a hit on its hands, it’s doing all it can to inform/remind people that Squid Game Season 2 is just around the corner. So, as well as being the inspiration for one of the new virtual fireplaces on Netflix, you can now play the iconic Red Light, Green Light game from Season 1 of the show.

All you need to do is type “Squid Game” into Google Search. As well as all the information about the show you would expect to find, you should see a floating box with a circle, triangle, and square inside it. Click this, and the Red Light, Green Light game should immediately begin, overlaying the Search results (as you can see above).

The controls are about as simple as they come. You have a line of people under your control, and need to tell them when to walk forward and when to stop moving. Press the blue circle button to have them move, and the red cross to make them stop. The aim of the game is to get all of your people to the finishing line without being seen by the scary, large-headed puppet.

My One Complaint Is That It’s Too Easy to Beat

I have to admit that I enjoyed playing this game when I discovered it. And may have wasted a good hour or so getting my little people to the finishing line. The one problem is, it’s too easy. There are so many visual and auditory clues informing you when the doll is going to turn around that it’s almost impossible to fail.

The only time I messed up was when my people got close to the line without quite crossing it. The temptation is to let them carry on walking after the doll turns around. But she sees everything, so doing this means you’ll lose people right at the end, and fail the challenge. Succeed, however, and you’ll win cash for the massive piggy bank from the show.
